Guwahati, October 21: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that recent eviction operations cleared more than 638 hectares of land across Golaghat, Hojai and Nagaon districts.
The drives targeted forest land that authorities identified as illegally occupied. Officials said approximately 1,000 families were evicted from protected forest zones during the operations.
In a social media post, Sarma characterised the administration’s action as its “Rudra Roop” and reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting Assam’s interests.
The Chief Minister said the operations formed part of a wider effort to safeguard the state’s resources and reclaim encroached land.
