Guwahati / Bongaigaon, October 5, 2026: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday shared a striking visual comparison on X, placing two photographs of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Bongaigaon side by side to underscore the transformation in governance infrastructure.
The left image shows the older, modest two-storey structure of the Deputy Commissioner’s office — a reddish-brown building with a simple entrance, flagpoles, and limited facilities.
The right image presents the newly constructed Integrated DC Office — a towering multi-storey building with a modern facade of orange, green, and extensive glass panels. The contemporary complex features a grand glass-fronted entrance, wide steps, and appears to have been recently inaugurated, with people gathered outside and decorative elements visible.
By posting the pair of photographs, Sarma sought to draw a clear distinction between the older administrative setup and the current government’s push for citizen-centric infrastructure. The new Integrated DC Office is designed to house multiple government departments under one roof, aiming to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and make services more accessible and efficient for the people of Bongaigaon and surrounding areas.
The post quickly gained traction, reflecting the ruling BJP’s ongoing narrative of development and improved governance in Assam. It comes at a time when the state government continues to highlight infrastructure upgrades across districts as part of its broader ease-of-doing-business and ease-of-governance agenda.
